The summer of 2004 drew to an end, decks were purchased and a decision was made to enroll in the "Subbass DJ academy", London. One to one tuition from the Subbass director "Graeme Lloyd" set Richards ambitions on fire.
For Richard, the next two years would be a journey towards a new horizon.
Richard founded the brand "Groove" in spring 2006, cdjs and studio equipment were purchased, his first promotional cd led to his first weekly residency. In a brand new bar with a modern outlook on music policies, "Groove @ Bar 7 Seven" was a huge success. He was one of many DJs intent on bringing upfront house music to his home town of Chelmsford, Essex. A party at the bespoke and funky venue "The Elan Lounge" led to a invite to cater for the "Bacardi" sponsored bartender championship to be held in the popular "Saracens Head Bar/Hotel" in Chelmsford, with exposure from the bar industries leading magazine "Class", "Groove" was becoming a household name.
A guest DJ appearance from and a business meeting with the "2funk" brand sparked a move which would help Richard achieve dreams. A invite to join the ever growing "2funk" brand was quickly accepted and Richard became a "2funk" resident at the start of summer, 2006.
A guest appearance at "The Cellar Bar", Chelmsford, a night called "Maison" presented by and featuring "The Prodigy's" production engineer and studio manager "Joe Morena".

Richard was asked to take on a role mid summer as a dj/promoter for a boat party run by the "2funk" and "Funkedup" brands which would take place on Londons, River Thames. Richards commitment was second to none, he involved himself in ticket sales, supply and installation of sound equipment and the penultimate set on the boat. Playing alongside "Matty Loco", "Justin Ballard" and "David Brooksbank" Richard filled the floor in minutes and delivered an upfront and energetic set which literally rocked the boat. Another floor filling delivery at the after party held in Chelmsfords premier cocktail bar "Ancient Lights" boosted Richards profile and confidence once more.
Things were moving fast for the "2funk" brand and Richard managed all aspects of the business alongside resident "David Brooksbank". A weekly outdoor residency was finalised at Chelmsfords most popular venue "The Bar". Hot Saturday afternoons were filled with Richards signature beach house sound and as night fell subliminal beats kept the parties going loco into the early hours of the morning.
"2funk" provided a tailor made package of sound for the grand opening of "Craig Hubert". A salon owned and run by the, world and 5 times British haidressing champion.
Richards sucesses as a DJ and promoter have been evident over such a short period of time. As the winter months drew near, the "2funk" brand took their famous outdoor parties indoors at the ever popular "The Bar", Chelmsford. Under new management and with a newly designed music policy "2funk" was able to help double sales and increase its own profile once more. Richards skills as a DJ were evident and his floor filling high energy sets gained interest from "Andy Northrop", promoter for Cambridge and London based "Rhythm At Work". This would lead to bookings at two of the biggest clubs in the world.
In November 2006 Richard was to play an awsome back to back set with "2funk" partner "David Brooksbank" at Londons finest superclub "Ministry Of Sound" alongside "Yousef", "X-press2", "Stacey Pullen", "Freeform Five", "Mark Huges", "Paul Farris", "Lee Howlett", "Non-stop heros" and "Baa Baa". The Chelmsford boys quite literally took the roof off the "Baby Box" playing the l ast set of the night and keeping the room open an hour longer than usual. Their 2 hour set contributed towards one of the best "Rhythm At Work" parties promoter "Andy Northrop" has seen in a long time in the "Ministry Of Sound" "Baby Box".
December saw a return to the city for the "2funk" boys, once again playing for "Rhythm At Work", this time at the ledgendary club "Turnmills" on their famous "Smartie Party" night. Richard and "David Brooksbank" took to the decks once again in another show stealing back to back performance which would attract interest from the likes of "Nick Bridges" the "Housexy" and "Ministry Of Sound" resident and the man who has just released the number one hit "Yeah Yeah" under his "Bodyrox" guise.
2007 is sure to be a big year for Richard considering his well deserved sucess in 2006, with just a few weeks of the new year gone Richard was made a resident for Chelmsford based club brand "Funkedup". A night which will see him playing monthly sets in some of Essex's finest clubs.
A return to Londons "Ministry Of Sound" on Feb 10th saw Richard once again playing for "Rhythm At Work", alongside "Sander Kleinberg", "Mark Knight" and the famous "Housexy" boys. Another road block night and a massive crowd reaction kicked off the year in true style for the Chelmsford DJ.
A slightly earlier boat party held in May in conjunction with "Special Culture" saw Richard take to the waves once again, A sell out gig and an even busier after party which spread to two of Chelmsfords finest venues would lead to a booking for "Pacha" London on the 18th May, Richard will be playing for "Love-tek" in room two with the last set of the night whilst "My Fairytale" will be hosting the main room.
