It was in 2003, fresh out of high school when Sydney born Monika Ross invested in a pair of turntables and began to delve into the exciting world of electronic music, people and parties. She began playing at small underground venues involved in Sydney’s intricate techno scene, landing a Saturday night residency at Oxford street’s Phoenix.
Brought up on House and Tech House, she explored a deeper sort of style with artists such as (but not limited too) Martinez, Noah Pred, Trentemoller, Ellen Allien and Polefolder having key influences on her mixing style and taste. She is best known for mixing unique, intelligent, well produced tracks with bass lines to seduce every listener.
From here Monika got involved in radio and landed a slot hosting and producing 'Frequency', FBI Radio’s Friday night show broadcasting to over 300,000 listeners every week searching the scene for the hottest and newest cuts of deep tech house and minimal as well as interviewing amazing talent such as Trentemoller.
Since residing in East London in 2008, she soon established herself within London's growing music scene playing at some of London's gems like T Bar, The Hoxton Pony, Roadtrip Bar, Ministry of Sound and around London's renowned Brick Lane, with the east's magnetic culture having a substantial influence on her music. She has an amazing eye for a tune and scours the scene looking for the hottest and newest cuts of deep, tech house, minimal and chill out.
